The Fife Arms

$125.00 USD

This book tells the story behind the remarkable restoration of the Fife Arms and is currently my favorite coffee table book. I fell in love with this hotel after landing there in my travels. A former 19th century coaching inn, the hotel had fallen into disrepair since its celebrated heyday during the reign of Queen Victoria. Several years ago, it was purchased by gallerists Iwan and Manuela Wirth who together with a team of artists and artisans reimagined it and brought it back to life and re-established it at the heart of the village. In 2018, it re-opened to unanimous praise and in 2019 was named The Sunday Times Hotel of the Year.

A passion project conceived by its owners, it drew upon traditional local skills and combined them with thrilling contemporary art and over 16,000 antiques to ensure that each room had its own unique Scottish story to tell. This book tells this story for the first time, introducing you to the experts and art that recreated every space. It is part personal guided tour to one of the world’s most exquisite hotels and part tribute to Scotland, the Highlands and a local community rich in talent.

This is an updated edition of the first book to be created about this lavish, darkly beautiful destination hotel.
